On Friday Uber began to offer a helicopter service to the Sundance Film Festival in Utah. After a day of the service running, Summit County officials petitioned to ground the flights.

This petition was then followed by a cease and desist order by the Summit County Sheriff’s office.

Despite the cease and desist, Uber indicate they will still be providing their UberCHOPPER service as long as the weather permits.

This tweet comes from their official twitter account just hours after the restraining order hearing. The hearing has been held over until Monday with the potential to interrupt Uber’s plans to fly users to the festival in style.

The Summit County Sheriff, Justin Martinez, said that he could still ticket and/or arrest pilots because the companies involved did not get the necassary permits.

UberCHOPPER on-demand fares are $200 during the day and $300 at night but pre-booked fares are $150 during the day and $250 at night (per seat).

The Sundance Film Festival started on Thursday and will run until 31st January but UberCHOPPER is only available until 24th January.
