Kickstarter project ‘Droplet’ has reached and exceeded its target on Kickstarter 7 days before it’s due to end.
With almost 700 backers the project has already partnered with manufacturing providers yet it’s unknown as to how long it will take for a UK design for the ‘Droplet Hub’ will be made available.
The Droplet can be used without the smart hub but will stop working when your phone is off.
The ‘Lite’ package costs $19, coming with one Droplet, and the ‘Basic’ package comes with one droplet and a smart hub for $39.
The team have already begun beta testing the hardware, smartphone apps and the cloud services, which are nearing completion.
The variation in backing ranges from 42 people giving as little as $1 to a couple of people giving $4,999.
The Droplet can be used as a reminder for things such as taking medication, feeding pets or taking out the recycling bin the night before collection.
The gadget can also be used to re-order items you’re running out of, similar to Amazon’s Dash Button.

An accompanying app is already available for iOS but the Android app is scheduled to be completed before the first shipment of hardware.
Production is expected to begin in August while shipping is expected between December 2015 and January 2016 and the estimated battery life of each Droplet is one year as it uses low energy bluetooth technology.
The Kickstarter campaign will end on Tuesday 19th May 2015 at 2:02pm BST and further information can be found on Droplet’s website.
