The students’ union at the University of Brighton have managed to get the UniZone extended from Falmer to Eastbourne.

It has been confirmed that from May 2014, students will be able to buy a UniZone ticket that will allow them to travel between Falmer to Eastbourne.

Paul Cooke, Vice President of Campus Communications at University of Brighton, tweeted: “Brighton Students’ Union are delighted with this announcement, as it will make travel between Brighton & Eastbourne more accessible for a number of students.”

He also added: “However, we will not stop campaigning until the UniZone ticket has been extended to Hastings.”

According to Southern Railway’s website, A current UniZone ticket costs:

  • £15.30 a week
  • £58.80 a month
  • £176.30 a quarter

The ticket currently covers Falmer, Moulsecoomb, London Road, Preston Park, Brighton, Hove, Aldrington, Portslade, Fishersgate, Southwick, Shoreham-by-Sea & Lancing.

This ticket entitles the holder to unlimited train travel between the specified stations and it’s expected that it will be the same for the extension to Eastbourne.
